Greenway resigns as president of Southwestern Seminary
The Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary met for its regularly scheduled meeting September 22 and subsequently accepted the resignation of President Adam W. Greenway, Chairman Danny Roberts announced today. Greenway has accepted a role with the International Mission Board (IMB).
The Executive Committee voted to extend an invitation to Southern Baptist leader O.S. Hawkins to serve as acting president. Further details about his appointment will be announced early next week. Hawkins is president-emeritus of Guidestone Financial Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention and a two-time alumnus of Southwestern Seminary. The Board of Trustees is expected to name a Presidential Search Committee during its next meeting, Oct. 17-18.
Roberts said the Executive Committee is grateful for Greenway’s service to the seminary, noting that final details of his transition as president are pending.

See You at the Pole to be held Sept. 28
See You at the Pole, an annual prayer time for schools, will be at 7:00 a.m., Sept. 28, at the flag poles in front of the B. H. Carroll Memorial Building.
The annual gathering around on school campuses originated in 1990 with a youth group in Burleson, Texas, during a DiscipleNow weekend. It continued to grow under the leadership of Student Discipleship Ministries, founded by Southwestern graduate Billy Beacham (1980). Since then, thousands of students pray around school flagpoles on the fourth Wednesday in September.
International Mission Board candidate consultant to be on campus Oct. 17 – 21
Joel Sutton, an International Mission Board (IMB) candidate consultant, will be on campus Oct. 17 – 21 to visit with those who want to know more about IMB missions. He will also host a pathways meeting at 6:00 p.m., Oct. 18, in Mathena 214. The pathways meeting is for students who want to know more about ways to serve with the IMB.

Nov. 1 is deadline for New York mission trip
The deadline for the spring break mission trip to New York City is Nov. 1. Ladies of Southwestern Seminary and Texas Baptist College are welcomed to participate in a week-long mission trip to the most populated city in the United States. Students are encouraged to join Everyday Evangelism teams
Everyday Evangelism is an evangelistic focus to encourage Southwestern and TBC students to share the Gospel. The teams visit parks, shopping centers, and other locations to share the Gospel. For more information and specific times, click here.

South Asia mission trip send-off dinner is Sept. 26
The World Missions Center will be sending 10 students and one professor to do evangelism among unreached people groups in South Asia. If you are friends or in the church family of these participants, please join the WMC in Seelig Banquet Hall in the Naylor Student Center for a send-off dinner and time of prayer from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sept. 26.

Sept. 27 sacred piano concert features Nathan Burggraff
A sacred piano concert titled “Journey through Psalms” will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sept. 27, in the Reynolds Auditorium, Cowden Hall. The concert will feature the talents of Nathan Burggraff, associate professor of music theory at Southwestern, and is free and open to the public.
Sept. 28 workshop to address ways to write better research papers
The Center for Writing Excellence is hosting a workshop titled, “Five Tips to Writing Better Research Papers,” 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Sept. 28, in Mathena 219. No preregistration is required.
Southwestern to host annual preaching workshop
The School of Theology of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary will host a one-day Preaching Workshop on Oct. 3. Designed for pastors, staff, and lay leaders, the workshop featuring Chris S. Osborne, Juan R. Sánchez, Justin Wainscott, Daniel C. Dickard, and Matthew F. McKellar will equip pastors with the tools for the development of text-driven sermons. For more information, click here.
Registration for Fall B 8-week courses is open
Registration is open for Fall B 8-week courses, which begin Oct. 10. These courses allow students to complete a full semester of class credit in eight weeks. For more information, click here.
Flu shots available at SWBTS clinic

Brown puts biblical counseling skills to work at Union Gospel Mission
When Maranda Brown heard the representative from Union Gospel Mission in Dallas share about the ministry opportunities at the Dallas-based ministry in her fall 2021 Emotions and Addictions course at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, she had no idea she would soon be putting into action the skills she was learning in the classroom.

Proclaim the Gospel clearly in a cross-cultural approach, Chris Martin, executive director/treasurer of the Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention, preached in a September 22 chapel message at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Texas Baptist College.
Southwestern A Cappella choir leads in worship at the Sing! Conference in Nashville
Nineteen students in the Southwestern A Cappella choir from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary sang in two concerts, breakout sessions, and with a mass choir of 250 people during the Sing! Conference held September 4-7 in Nashville.
God uses lessons learned by Southwestern student to change lives at Junction First Baptist
The youth group at First Baptist Church in Junction, Texas, has seen a number of salvations and changed lives after Steve Myers, a Master of Divinity student at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and pastor of the church, was inspired to use what he learned in a discipleship evangelism class taught by Matt Queen, L.R. Scarborough Chair of Evangelism (“Chair of Fire”) and associate dean of the Roy J. Fish School of Evangelism and Missions.
