Justin Wainscott serves as director of discipleship and Christian ministry at Texas Baptist College and teaches in the area of Christian ministry. His research interests include preaching, pastoral theology, biblical theology, missions history, poetry/hymnody, and the use of the Psalms in the Christian life.

Dr. Wainscott has published a collection of his hymns and poems, Lost in Wonder, Love, and Praise (Wipf and Stock, 2019). He wrote the article on “Pastoral Theology” for the forthcoming B&H volume, A Theological Handbook for the People of God; and he is working on the chapter related to “Pastoral Ministry and Preaching” in a forthcoming book on the sufficiency of Scripture.

Before joining the faculty at SWBTS, Dr. Wainscott served in pastoral ministry in churches in Alabama, Kentucky, and Tennessee, including over a decade as pastor of First Baptist Church in Jackson, Tennessee.

He and his wife, Anna, have three children.
