Dr. Skaug serves as Provost and Vice President for Academic Administration and Associate Professor of Theology in the School of Theology. Prior to his role as provost, Dr. Skaug served as dean of Texas Baptist College and Associate Professor of Theology at Texas Baptist College. Dr. Skaug has served as a pastor in Colorado, South Carolina, and California. Additionally, he has served in various roles in Christian Higher Education including, Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Gateway Seminary and Director of Development at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served as adjunct faculty at California Baptist University in the areas of Systematic Theology and Old Testament. 

Dr. Skaug is the author of How Can a Loving God Send Anyone to Hell (Christian Focus, 2020) and has co-authored a chapter with Dr. Chris Morgan in Biblical Spirituality: God’s Holiness and Our Spirituality (Crossway, 2019). Dr. Skaug is co-author of the forthcoming The Doctrine of Sin with Dr. Chris Morgan in the Theology for the People of God series (B&H Academic). He is also the co-author with Micah D. Carter of “The Authority and Sufficiency of Scripture in Systematic Theology” in The Authority and Sufficiency of Scripture edited by Adam W. Greenway and David S. Dockery (Seminary Hill Press, 2022). 

Dr. Skaug is married to Jodie, and they have one daughter, Jessica. They spend their free time cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and camping. Dr. Skaug is also an outdoorsman who enjoys fishing, hunting, and BBQ.
